Zamfara state government today marked this year’s Islamic Calendar Month of Muharram with sober reflections on the persistent insecurity situation threatening the state for over a decade.
Muslims across the world celebrate the month as the first month of Islamic year, in which the occasion is often marked with public lectures and a day’s holiday.
Zamfara however, marked the occasion with the launch of this year’s Islamic Calendar and lectures by reknoun scholars who spoke largely on security situation of the state and the way forward.
The guest speaker at the occasion Professor Salisu Muktar blamed insincere approach to issues of security by both government and the public as responsible for the unabated security threat in the state.
He said if the state is sincere in the bid to tackle insecurity, “there is need for honest, sincere approach from the government, social and corporate organisations as well as every citizen of the state.
The professor stressed that every body must cultivate the fear of Allah in his approach to handling the situation rather than exploring the situation to derive personal benefit.
Other scholars who gave similar contribution include reknoun scholars like Dr. Ahmad Umar Kanoma and shielk Aminu Aliyu (modibon Gusau).
In his speech at the occasion, the state deputy governor Malam Mani Mumini who was represented by the Head of service Brr. Aliyu Liman said the new administration of governor Dauda Lawan Dare is set for committed, sincere approach towards restoring peace in the state.
