Encomiums flowed freely as colleagues, friends, and associates gathered to celebrate a man widely described as a rare gem in public service, Mallam Abdulrazaq Onivefu Leramoh, at his retirement ceremony after 32 years of meritorious service in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

Leading the tributes, the Director of the FCT Education Resource Centre, Hajiya Neemat Daud Abdulrahman, painted a vivid picture of a man whose legacy is etched in excellence, integrity, and dedication.

She described Leramoh as “a team player, a rare leader, and an administrator of uncommon poise,” noting his remarkable ability to uphold punctuality and institutional values.

According to her, his skill in drafting memos that attracted prompt approvals made him a dependable pillar within the system. While expressing gratitude for his impactful service, she admitted his exit leaves a void that will be deeply felt.

Adding his voice, a retiree of ten years, Mr. Mohammed Kabiru Gbadamosi, described Leramoh as a man who touched many lives through his willingness to help others, especially in matters of employment.

He urged those still in positions of authority to emulate such generosity, emphasizing that true service extends beyond official duties to lifting others along the way.

In a symbolic and emotional moment, the Director of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement (RCSI), Dr. Jumai Ahmadi, formally handed over the retiree to his wife, Mrs. Kadijat Oiza Sadiq-Leramoh.

With warmth and humour, Dr Ahmadu encouraged Mrs. Leramoh to care for her husband with love, companionship, and good meals as he begins a new chapter of life.

Responding with joy, Mrs. Leramoh described her husband as her best friend and partner, expressing optimism about the new phase of their journey together.

Other speakers, including his former boss, Mr. B.B. Abdul, echoed similar sentiments, portraying Leramoh as an inspiring, resourceful, and dependable officer whose commitment to duty stood him out throughout his career.

When it was his turn to speak, the celebrant, Mallam Leramoh, expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming show of love and honour.

Clearly moved, he admitted that words were insufficient to capture his emotions. He described himself as excited and fulfilled, seeing people from far and near gather to celebrate his journey.

Reflecting on his years in service, Leramoh urged civil servants to adopt a mindset that prioritizes service above all else.

He emphasized humility, discipline, and dedication as essential virtues for a successful career, noting that when service comes first, other qualities naturally follow.

He also proposed the creation of an association of retired FCTA directors, which he believes would provide a platform for experienced professionals to contribute to ongoing reforms and institutional development.

The high point of the event was the unveiling of a commemorative magazine (press clips), the cutting of the 60th birthday cake, and the presentation of a deep freezer to the distinguished retiree, marking a fitting celebration of a life dedicated to service and excellence.
