The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Stephen Uchenna Igwe has assured that Governor Francis Nwifuru’s led administration will continue to partner with the Local Government Chairmen in the State to foster harmony and grassroots development in line with its people’s Charter of Needs agenda.
The Hon Commissioner dropped this hint at Afikpo Local Government Headquarters on Tuesday when he led the Management Staff of his Ministry on inspection Tour to the Area
Hon Igwe who on arrival at the Council Headquarters was received by the Executive Chairman of the Council,NWACHI,Timothy A. U disclosed that the visit was to acquaint himself with developments in the council area, monitor staff attendance to work, inspect projects embarked by the Local Government and interact with the Political class, Civil Servants and other stakeholders.
He explained that Governor Nwifuru through his People’s Charter of Needs Agenda has done so well in the execution of grassroots-based infrastructural development and called on Council Chairmen in the State to emulate such purpose driven spirit to fast track developments in their areas. He commended the Chairman of Afikpo LGA for what they saw on ground and urged him to remain focused in delivering good governance
Adding his voice, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters,Hon Paul Nwogha noted that the Local Government system as the Government closest to the people was meant to bring accelerated development to the doorsteps of those at the grassroots and charged the Operators of the system to initiate projects that have direct impact on their people as a way of justifying the essence of the creation of the Local Government as the third tier of government.
He commended the leadership of Afikpo Local Government for their commitment and steadfastness to the progress and policy thrust of the State Government

U who appreciated the Hon Commissioner and his team for taking their time to come to Afikpo LGA to see things for themselves, noted that the visit underscores the commitment of Ebonyi State Government under the able leadership of His Excellency,Rt Hon Builder Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to enhance efficient governance at the grassroots
The Council Chairman who took the Team to some project sites of the Council, thanked the State Governor for his trail blazing leadership in the state which finds expression in the giant strides recorded in every sector and promised to follow his footsteps by pursuing projects and programmes that will enhance the living conditions of the people of Afikpo Local Government Area
He took time to highlight some of the achievements of his administration in terms of projects and programmes and assured of his commitment to the speedy completion of the ongoing construction of ultra modern 2 storey Office complex
Joining the Council Chairman to receive the august visitors were the Vice Chairman of the Council,Hon(Mrs) Josephine Chinwe Nwogo; the Leader of the Council,Hon Joel Inya Egwu; the Council Secretary,Dame Priscilla Alu Idam; Hon Councilors,Supervisors and other Principal Officers of the Council
