The Deputy Governor of Niger state Comrade Yakubu Garba receives 45 Bags of assorted grains from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for the survivors of the recent flood disaster in Mokwa .
The Deputy Governor who was represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs,Barrister Mario Mohammed at the office of the deputy governor on Wednesday.

Yakubu Garba praised CAN ‘s gesture and assured that the relief items would be properly utilized.
He also mentioned that the state government has redeemed its pledge of one billion naria and started disbursement accordingly.
Earlier ,presenting the relief materials to the Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, CAN President His Eminence Archbishop Daniel Okoh expressed deep sorrow over the extent of destruction caused by the flood. He stated, “We share in the pain it has inflicted on the affected communities.”
Represented by CAN Vice President Rev. Dr. Stephen Baba Panya, Okoh urged various groups and governments to recognize this tragic incident as a reminder of “our collective responsibility to support one another during times of distress.
” He emphasized that the donation of food items showcased love and solidarity with the victims, particularly those directly affected by the disaster.
“We are here to express our heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Niger State, especially in the Mokwa region, as well as to those who lost their relatives and homes, leading to the displacement of many families.
“As CAN, our efforts aim to complement the interventions of the federal and state governments, emergency agencies, well-meaning Nigerians, and other humanitarian partners. We will continue to lift Niger State in our prayers, just as Psalm 146:1 says, ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.’”
