From Abuja to the World : Livinus Chibuike Victor Shatters Interview Record, Champions Journalists’ Rights

By Uloma Peace Okorie

Abuja, Nigeria – Nigerian journalist, Livinus Chibuike Victor, has etched his name in history by completing a breathtaking 74-hour marathon interview, setting a new time and surpassing the earlier achievement of fellow Nigerian, Chizoba Clara Kronborg, who held the record with 55 hours, 24 seconds in Spain this March 2024.

The Abuja-based journalist interviewed 129 individuals during the nonstop exercise, demonstrating remarkable endurance, focus, and commitment to the profession. The feat has been described as both “inspirational and symbolic” by observers across Nigeria and beyond.

Chibuike dedicated the historic marathon to press freedom in Nigeria and across the globe, stressing that his effort was not merely a personal triumph but a voice for journalists worldwide. “This is for every journalist whose voice has been stifled or suppressed. I did this to prove that journalism is powerful, enduring, and unshakable,” he declared.

The record-breaking achievement overshadows that of Chizoba Clara Kronborg, a Marbella-based Nigerian, who earlier stunned the world with her 55-hour marathon interview. With his 74-hour stretch, Victor has firmly secured Nigeria’s dominance in this rare Guinness category.

Grateful after concluding the session, Victor praised his supporters, participants, and team who helped sustain the marathon. “I couldn’t have done this without their encouragement and the willingness of people to sit with me and share their voices,” he said.

Reactions have poured in, with colleagues describing him as a symbol of resilience for Nigerian journalists who continue to work under intense social, political, and economic challenges.

Chairman NUJ FCT Comrade Grace Ike, says “Victor has not only set a world record, he has sent a strong message that journalism cannot be silenced, I’m proud that he is a member of my Council,”.

Comrade Victor, Livinus Chibuike now awaits official confirmation from Guinness World Records, which, once certified, will immortalize him globally as a journalist who pushed the boundaries of both endurance and principle.
