The Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs. Didi Esther Wilson-Jack, has reaffirmed her commitment to empowering women journalists in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) through training and collaboration aimed at promoting workplace diversification and gender inclusivity.
Mrs. Wilson-Jack gave this assurance when she received a delegation from the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), FCT Chapter, led by Chairperson Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang, during a courtesy visit to her office in Abuja.

Commending NAWOJ’s efforts in amplifying women’s voices in the media, the HCSF expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with the Association on capacity-building initiatives.
She said“Training is our field, and we are happy that you ask for training. We will look into your request and see how we can support you in whatever way we can,” she stated.

Mrs. Wilson-Jack also used the medium to reveal plans to host a two-day International Civil Service Conference in Abuja in June, to mark the successful implementation of the Federal Civil Service Strategy Implementation Plan (FCSSIP 2021–2025) document.
She hinted that the conference, expected to attract over 5,000 participants from across Nigeria’s 36 states and beyond, will focus on capacity building, innovation, performance management, and networking among others.

Declaring 2025 a “year of achievement” for the civil service, the HCSF emphasized that efforts are being intensified to boost service delivery and professional excellence across all strata of government.
During the visit, FCT NAWOJ Chairperson, Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang congratulated Mrs. Wilson-Jack on her historic appointment and acknowledged her as a beacon of excellence for women in leadership.

She presented a proposal for a two-day training program for 150 female journalists in the FCT themed “Workplace Diversification: Advancing Women Journalists’ Role in the Newsroom.”
Comrade Ikpang noted that the training is aimed at equipping female journalists with the tools to thrive in professional settings while maintaining a balanced family life.
According to Comrade Ikpang, the initiative aligns with the government’s broader goal of fostering gender balance and inclusivity across sectors.
The meeting ended on a hopeful note, with both parties expressing a strong commitment to a sustained partnership for national development and the empowerment of women in leadership and media.
