The Kano State Government has received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of the renowned Islamic scholar and revered spiritual leader, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, who died in the early hours of Thursday after a prolonged illness.

He was reported by family sources to have passed peacefully at an age believed to be over 100 years.
Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi was a towering figure in Islamic scholarship whose influence transcended generations, communities, and borders. His lifelong dedication to the propagation of Islamic knowledge, moral discipline, and spiritual guidance earned him immense respect across Nigeria and beyond. Through his teachings, mentorship, and exemplary humility, shaped countless lives and contributed immensely to the moral and spiritual development of the Muslim Ummah.
The Kano State Government under the stewardship of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, on behalf of the Government and the good people of Kano State, express heartfelt condolences to the family of the late scholar, the Tijjaniyya community, the people of Bauchi State, and the entire Muslim Ummah.
Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi as “a rare gift to our nation, an embodiment of knowledge, piety, and patience, whose contributions to peacebuilding, religious understanding, and community development will remain indelible.”
The late cleric’s passing is “a monumental loss not only to his immediate family but to the entire Muslim world,” while acknowledging his legacy of scholarship, compassion, and service to humanity as they will continue to inspire future generations.
While we pray to Almighty Allah to grant Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus, and to give his family, followers and admirers, the fortitude to bear this great loss.
The Kano State Government urges the public to continue reflecting on the exemplary life the late Sheikh lived and to uphold the values of peace, humility, and devotion that he championed.
