The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has directed security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the recent attack on Oso Edda community in Edda Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Nwifuru described the attack as barbaric and a flagrant disregard for the sanctity of human life, stressing that such acts would not be tolerated in the state.

“I received with rude shock the news of the recent attack on Oso Edda which claimed lives and led to the destruction of property. This act of callousness is a direct affront to our commitment to restoring peace in our communities, and we cannot tolerate it,” the governor said.

He emphasized that the protection of lives and property remains a top priority of his administration.

“As a government, the security of lives and property of our people is of utmost importance, and no effort will be spared to get to the root of this matter,” he added.

The governor disclosed that his administration is working closely with law enforcement agencies to track down and bring the perpetrators to justice, while appealing to residents of the affected community to remain calm and refrain from any form of reprisal.

He further directed security agencies to immediately mobilize to the area and take proactive measures to prevent a recurrence of the incident or retaliatory attacks.

“My prayers and thoughts are with the families who lost their loved ones and property in this unfortunate incident. Be rest assured that they will not be left alone,” Governor Nwifuru assured.

He also called on communities across the state to embrace peace, noting that meaningful development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of violence and destruction.
