As part of activities to Mark the Rity and Friends 2024 and 9th edition, Miss Charity Ogochukwu Ikenwa, also known as “Rity”, Spread Love to over 1000 Children at Wumba Community in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Thereby giving hope to them for Secured Future As a journalist and ace media blogger, Rity’s meager resources would have dictated a more modest approach to life, but not for this phenomenal woman. For the past nine years, Rity has been dedicating her time, resources, and energy to bringing joy, hope, and help to indigent, vulnerable children in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

It’s said that the golden fish has no hiding place and that’s the case with Rity who has consistently showered love on children, sacrificing her own comfort to put smiles on their faces. Her labor of love, known as “Rity and Friends”, is an annual event that includes soft scholarships for quality education, financial support for parents, entertainment, and talent shows for kids, among other things. This keeps children looking forward to the event.

This year’s edition of Rity and Friends, held at Wumba Community, FCT, recorded over 1000 children in attendance. The event featured a range of activities, including quiz, dance presentations, and talent shows, which showcased the incredible talents and abilities of the children, irrespective of their location.
Earlier while Speaking with Former Chairperson NAWOJ FCT, Princess Joy Omagha Idam, she called on individuals and Corporate bodies to support Rity and Friends and to replicate this across the country to put smiles on the faces of children. She commended Rity for sustaining the project over the year and prayed for God to bless her.
For Rity, the joy and fulfillment she derives from seeing the children happy and fulfilled is what keeps her going. According to Rity
“I find fulfilment doing this along with my friends who over the years shared in my vision and see this project as theirs as well. God bless them immensely, Amen”.

Rity’s selflessness and dedication to the children have not gone unnoticed. The children, who affectionately call her “Aunty Rity”, adore her and look up to her as a role model. Ten year-old Uzoamaka Ohagwu, who attended the event, expressed her gratitude to “Aunty Rity” for bringing so much happiness and joy into her life. “I had so much fun! I wish Aunty Rity will come again, as this is the first time we are witnessing such at Wumba,” she declared.

As Rity and Friends continues to touch lives, Her story is a testament that an individual can make a difference, and that with determination, selflessness, and a willingness to sacrifice, even the most modest of means can be transformed into a force for good. Her Service to humanity is worthy of emulation.
