2025 : NCWS Charges Nigerian Women and Nigerians to Keep Hope Alive

As we welcome the year 2025 with hope and renewed determination, the National Council of Women’s Societies (NCWS) extends warm greetings to all Nigerians, particularly the resilient women of our great nation.

The dawn of a new year presents an opportunity for reflection, resolution, and action. Despite the challenges of the past, our collective strength as Nigerians has been the bedrock of our progress. We celebrate our resilience and achievements while acknowledging that there is still much to be done.

To Nigerian Women:
You remain the cornerstone of families, communities, and the nation at large. Your unwavering commitment to nurturing, building, and advocating for positive change inspires us all. In 2025, let us continue to break barriers, shatter stereotypes, and demand equity in all sectors of society.

The NCWS is committed to:

  1. Advancing Women’s Empowerment: This year, we will intensify our advocacy for gender parity, ensuring that women have equal access to opportunities in education, politics, and the economy.
  2. Promoting Economic Independence: We urge the government and private sector to create and expand programs that support women entrepreneurs, especially in rural areas.
  3. Ensuring Safety and Justice: The safety of every Nigerian woman and girl must be a top priority. We call for stronger action against gender-based violence and for full implementation of existing laws protecting women’s rights.
  4. Youth and Girl-Child Education: As the bedrock of any progressive society, education remains a critical area of focus. We must ensure that every girl has the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to the nation’s future.

The NCWS extends its heartfelt appreciation to Her Excellency, the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator OluremiTinubu, for her “Renewed Hope” initiatives aimed at empowering women across the nation. These programs have provided invaluable support and opportunities for women to thrive economically and socially. We commend her for her unwavering dedication to the advancement of Nigerian women and apoeal for more collaboration.

To the Government and Stakeholders:
We urge all levels of government to prioritize policies that promote inclusion, equity, and development. Women must be included in decision-making processes at all levels, from the community to the national stage.

To Nigerian Men:
We call on our fathers, brothers, and sons to stand as allies in the fight for gender equality. A stronger Nigeria is only possible when we stand together, united in purpose and vision.

As we embark on this journey through 2025, let us work collectively for a peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive Nigeria. Together, we can build a nation where every citizen, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to thrive.

Happy New Year, and may 2025 be a year of growth, success, and unity for all.

Signed,
Mrs. Geraldine Etuk
Acting National President
