The Business Women of Influence for Renewed Hope Agenda (BWI-RHA) has thrown its weight behind the National E-Mobility Programme for Nigerian Women, describing the initiative as a major opportunity to expand women’s economic empowerment and create sustainable sources of income.
BWI-RHA was represented at the flag-off ceremony of the programme, a collaborative initiative of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and the private sector, aimed at promoting women’s participation in Nigeria’s emerging electric mobility sector.
Representing the Director-General of BWI-RHA, Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Oyewole, was the organisation’s Director of Media and Communications, Ms. Evelyn Onyilo.
Speaking on behalf of the DG, Onyilo commended the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman Ibrahim, for initiating the programme, noting that the provision of e-mobility tricycles could significantly improve the livelihoods of women entrepreneurs.
According to Oyewole, the initiative would not only promote sustainable transportation but also open new avenues for Nigerian women to generate income and strengthen their economic independence.
She further disclosed that BWI-RHA had established its cooperative society as part of its broader women-empowerment agenda, with registration of members currently ongoing.
The DG urged women, particularly small and medium-scale business owners, to take advantage of the cooperative platform, stressing that collective economic initiatives could provide greater opportunities for business growth and financial empowerment.
Earlier, the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman Ibrahim, represented by her Senior Adviser, Technical and Community Engagement, Dr. Jummai Idonije, urged beneficiaries of the e-mobility programme to make effective use of the tricycles to improve their income.
She cautioned beneficiaries against selling the vehicles, emphasizing that the programme was designed as a sustainable economic empowerment initiative rather than a one-off benefit.
The National E-Mobility Programme is expected to deepen women’s involvement in Nigeria’s evolving green transportation sector while providing them with practical opportunities to build businesses, create wealth and contribute to a more sustainable economy.
For BWI-RHA, the initiative further underscores its commitment to supporting policies and programmes that place Nigerian women at the centre of economic development and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
