Afikpo Legislative Council backs the Relocation of Businesses in the LGA

Afikpo Legislative Council has given legislative backing to the relocation of some Business owners in Afikpo Local Government Area to a more convenient and spacious location.

In their sitting on Thursday at the Council Hall, Afikpo the Hon Councilors unanimously gave their approval for the relocation of Artisans; Okirika, telecommunication, Building materials and Motor parts dealers among others.

Moving a motion under Matters of urgent public importance, the Chief Whip of the Legislative Council, Hon Barr Denis Enyinnia Eni who noted that Eke Market Afikpo as well as Afikpo Town has become congested with the proliferation of Business activities averred that relocating some of them is the only measure to fast track development.

He commended the Executive Chairman of the Council, NWACHI, Timothy A. U for his developmental initiative that will ensure that Afikpo, as the 2nd City in Ebonyi State is a beauty to behold and called on his colleagues to support the relocation of some of the businesses to Afikpo Plaza; Bishop Okoro Regional Market and Afikpo Modern Market.

Seconding the motion, the Deputy Leader and Councilor representing Ugwuegu Ward, Hon Okoro Obinna Otu stated that relocating some of the businesses as proposed by the Executive Arm is a timely intervention that will bring rapid development in the area adding that Afikpo LGA would now have Markets for specific items and products as obtainable in other developed Cities.

Thereafter, the Leader of the Council, Hon Joel Inya Egwu put it to vote and the House unanimously adopted the motion and further advised business owners affected to place public interest above their personal consideration.
