The Chairperson of Afikpo Local Government Area, Mrs. Keziah Uduma Nwachi, in collaboration with BERWO Foundation, led by the First Lady of Ebonyi State, Chief (Mrs.) Mary-Maudaline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, officially flagged off the 2025 National Immunization Plus Days Campaign in the Council Area. The flag-off ceremony took place at the MDG Health Center, Nkagbogho-Unwana, and was attended by stakeholders, community heads, political leaders, women’s groups, and health officials.

A Call to Action
The Chairperson emphasized the need for all hands to be on deck in the fight against polio and implored residents to fully support the 4-day campaign, which runs from Saturday, June 28, 2025, to Tuesday, July 1, 2025. She applauded Governor Nwifuru and his wife for their commitment to delivering quality healthcare to Ebonyi children and assured that the Administration of Nwachi Timothy A.U. in Afikpo Local Government Area will continue to follow their footsteps to secure a polio-free and healthy future for the people.
BERWO Foundation’s Commitment
The Coordinator of Afikpo East Development Center, Comrade Immaculate Elem Ibe, highlighted the remarkable accomplishments of the First Lady under the aegis of BERWO Foundation and announced the Foundation’s readiness to assist any pregnant woman who requires a Cesarean section.
Collaboration and Support
The Coordinator of Ubeyi Development Center, Hon. Aisha Nwachi, and the CEO of Golden Heart Helping Hands Foundation, Mrs. Stella Akubuiro, thanked the State Governor and his wife, the World Health Organization, and Health Officers for their efforts to end the polio menace in the society. They assured of the collaboration of all stakeholders to pursue the fight to a successful end.

The Administrative Secretary of Afikpo Local Government Primary Health Care, Mrs. Angela Nwafor, appreciated the Council Chairman and the Chairperson for sponsoring the flag-off exercise and promised that Health Officers will ensure adequate coverage of targeted children.
