Armed Forces Remembrance Day : I will improve Welfare of Retired Soldiers – Kefas

Gov. Agbu Kefas of Taraba has promised to consider all welfare demands of the retired members of the armed forces in the state.

He disclose this at the 2024 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day in Jalingo.

According to him, the sacrifices of the fallen heroes would not be taken for granted.

He urged the public to support their families and the families of the retired members of the armed forces.

Governor Kefas, who is a retired army officer commended the Nigeria Army for their relentless efforts in responding to Insecurity threats in the state.

He expressed his determination to continue support to security agencies in the state so as to achieve a crime free society.

“The history of the state is interwoven with the bravery of the armed forces as they have stood tall in the face of adversity, defending the boarders and ensuring the safety of the communities in the state.

He explained that their commitment and resilience deserved the deepest respect of all.

“I urged people not to forget the families of the fallen soldiers, and pledged my administration readiness to supporting the families and the legion to enable them live meaningfully.

He equally called for commitment in supporting the armed forces to have resources for training and care they need to have a safer and prosperous state.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Nigeria Legion Taraba State Council retired Warrant Officer Samaila Nuhu, said Taraba State have large number of ex- service Men and women retiree.

He mentioned that the state office of the legion needs renovation, vehicle called on the Governor to come to their aide.

He also called for support to the families and widows of fallen soldiers and urged the government to assist them with skills acquisition training to boost their economic based.

Samaila said that their members could work in the area of security, urging the government to consider them in such areas.
He also appealed to the state government to support the organisation to complete it’s secretariat, provide a vehicle and provide them with monthly running-cost.

According to him, such would enable the legion to carry out it’s task with efficiency.
While thanking the governor for identifying with them, Samaila appealed to the public to support widows of the fallen heroes in the state.

Our Correspondent recalls that the 2024 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance event commenced with Jumaat prayers on Friday.

The event proceeded with a Thanks giving interdenominational service at the Anglican Cathedral Jalingo.

Our Correspondent further reports that the event was attended by all the first class traditional rulers in the state, top government officials in the state and senior military commanders in the state.

The Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day is a day set aside to honour the fallen heroes of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Our Correspondent also reports that 6 Brigade Nigeria Army led by Maj. Gen. Frank Etim, Brigade Commander of the brigade served as the Chief Host.
