A Christian organization, International Christian Ministers Association of Nigeria has disassociate self from the popourted endorsement of a specific candidate for Governorship seat of Taraba State.

The Leader of the Association, Bishop Silas Usman Loto disclose this in a press conference in jalingo.

“We join heads together to build the Body of Christ. We found out that some groups of Christians want to divide us along party lines.

“They endorse a particular candidate, which should not be like that. Both Kefas Agbu of the PDP and Emmanuel Bwacha APC are all Christians, so I see no reason why CAN will support Kefas Agbu of the PDP only.

“This endorsement of a specific candidate is wrong.

“CAN should leave people to choose for themselves who should lead them. It should not impose its opinion on anybody which is not ours.

“They said that we should vote PDP candidate, we are not against him, but the choice should be left for people to make.

He called CAN to withdraw its opinion and allow God and the masses to do their choice.

According to him, CAN only succeeded in creating problem to the people in 2015 and 2019 by using the Association to canvas for support for the present administration.

Reacting to the press conference, the state Chairman, Youth Wing of CAN, Evangelist Ephesian Jesse said:

“The leadership of youth wing CAN Taraba state wish to categorically state that raining insults on our spiritual fathers is against our belief and unacceptable because it can attract dire consequences that may be catastrophic.

“For the Biblical injunction emphatically states in Psalm 105:15 that, “Touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm”. It’s also germane to know that, David had all the opportunities to harm King Soul but he couldn’t because King Soul was the anointed servant of God. So, being rebellious to the servants of God because of an endorsement is calamitous. Exodus Chapter 22 verses 28 corroborates that, “Do not blaspheme God or curse the ruler of your people”.

“Therefore, we ask God to forgive you and accord you the necessary understanding to act well in order to avert God’s curse.

He call on the general public especially the youth to be calm and desist from making sarcastic statements on spiritual leaders because, adding that endorsement does not entails forceful possession of your permanent voter’s cards (PVCs), personal decision, choice of candidate, accreditation and conclusive voting in the forthcoming gubernatorial general election.

“It’s also paramount to note that your power of decision lies with you and no one else but being reactively insultive to our spiritual fathers signifies that you have lost it in totality and you are only acting in such manner to satisfy your anger and personal interest. In addition, expressing your dissatisfactions in respect to the endorsement of Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas is understandable to certain extent but unleashing insults on the leadership is against our faith and we frown at it and condemn that act in totality.

He causion the Christian Youth in the State to desist from the usage of deregatory statements and names calling on our Spiritual leaders that were carefully selected to oversee the affairs of the Christian community in the State.

According to him, the selection and endorsement of Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas of the PDP by the State CAN Leadership and Leaders of the five church Bloc that constitute CAN including the various Coordinators from all the sixteen (16) LGAs of Taraba state and her wings is a collective decision.

“It is on this note that I am appealing to all the youth to listen to the voice of our leaders and do the needful. For the voice of God’s ordained leaders is a voice of wisdom. But where you are not ready to obey our spiritual leaders then you can make your choice and stop raining insults and abusive languages on our spiritual leaders, also remember that there is always a repercussion for every unmannered action.

“Above all, we are also advising those who have published insultive write-ups in the public domain in respect to the endorsement of Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas to retract such articles since the endorsement will not in anyway take away your personal choice.

He appeal to all son and sundry to pray for a peaceful election and for God will to prevail in the forth coming election in Jesus mighty name Amen.
