The third edition of the most prestigious International Film Festival in the southern region of Nigeria has ended with an award ceremony.
The four day event which is an international event played host to great film Makers across the globe.
The festival was fun filled and entertaining with alot of activities which include symposium, seminars presentation on different topics, that were impactful to Film Makers.
Speaking , the Commissioner for Tourism, Hon Iti Orugbani, commended the organizer’s of this great Festival noting that the state is ready to partner with them to ensure it become a movie hub.
Hon. Orugbani who’s was represented by the SA Tourism Dr Preye keriyamo also stated that the ministry of Tourism is open to investors including film makers who are willing to partner with them noting that this will boost the state economically.
Mr. Moses Etonzor (DGN) aka Humble D, who is the organizer earlier said the Bayelsa International Film Festival is an annual event that is aimed at celebrating the art of filmmaking and showcasing films from around the world.
Taking place in Bayelsa State, Nigeria, it attracts filmmakers, industry professionals, and film enthusiasts from all over.
He stressed that the aim of the festival is to promote and support the Nigerian film industry, also known as Nollywood, as well as provide a platform for international filmmakers to showcase their work.
It features a diverse range of film screenings, including feature films, documentaries, short films, and animations.
In addition to film screenings, the Bayelsa International Film Festival also includes panel discussions, workshops, and masterclasses conducted by industry experts. These sessions provide valuable insights and knowledge sharing opportunities for aspiring filmmakers and industry professionals.
According to him the festival also play hosts to various networking events, allowing filmmakers to connect with each other, industry professionals, and potential investors creating opportunities for collaborations and partnerships, which can further enhance the growth and development of the film industry.
He futher said , the Bayelsa International Film Festival is a significant event that celebrates the art of filmmaking, promotes cultural exchange, and supports the growth of the Nigerian film industry. It provides a platform for filmmakers to showcase their work, learn from industry experts, and connect with like-minded individuals in the film community.
However, awards were bestowed in different categories within and across the globe. Here in the state the Most Outstanding Bayelsa film Makers Award, Best Actress went to Amb, Timinepere Jombo Idoko, Best Actor Daniel Uroupatei Fawei, Best Director Tarila Afore, best Cinematographer, Richman Ineyi Weri, best Costumier Joy Otugha, best Script Writer Princess Ruth Alazigha and best Makeup Artist Itubor Regina Kokopamo.
