His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin, is being honored in a double celebration marking his birthday and 9th coronation anniversary.
The Office of the Director General of the Edo State Tourism, Culture and Creative Economy Agency, Lady Vivian Elabor, issued a press statement on October 20, 2024, from Benin City, describing the convergence as a powerful signal of a destiny fulfilled and a kingdom reborn.
Elabor praised the Oba’s reign, stating, “These past nine years have been a masterclass in visionary leadership, brilliantly weaving the sacred threads of our ancient heritage with the vibrant strands of a modern, creative future.” She highlighted the repatriation of cultural artefacts as a key achievement, noting it has “unlocked a golden key to our future” by fueling tourism and the creative economy.
Elabor pledged the agency’s dedication, saying, “We will work tirelessly to ensure that the story of the Benin Kingdom is not just told, but is felt, experienced, and invested in across the globe.” The statement concluded with prayers for the Oba’s continued wisdom, health, and long reign.
