There is now a change of guard at National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC) as the newly appointed Director General, Mrs Omobolanle Akinyemi-Obe, takes over its leadership as the immediate past Director General, Emem Omokaro Ph.D, formally handed over at a ceremony at the Head Office of the National Senior Citizens Centre in Abuja.

In her handover speech, Emem Omokaro Ph.D, immediate past DG of NSCC, said it was four years of pioneering initiatives in transformative programmes and engagements in partnership to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of older persons in Nigeria.

Key amongst the programmes was opening up the care industry through the Geriatric Social Care programme, Elder Justice Campaign, One Community One Senior Centre, the Senior-Led Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Continuing Engagement Bureau Initiative, the Multipurpose Identity Card Initiative, among other initiatives.

The new Director General of the National Senior Citizens Centre, Mrs Omobolanle Akinyemi-Obe, said technically she will derive direction from the wealth of experience of her predecessor as well as build on the foundational strides recorded during her tenure.

Mrs Akinyemi-Obe said to achieve this, funding is key, appealing for adequate funding through budgetary allocation to enable NSCC to achieve and actualise its mandate.
Also, the SA to the President, on Agriculture, Hon. Abiodun Yinusa, was in attendance.put in place and the ongoing programs like the Livelihood Empowerment Programs and the Geriatric Social Care Sector.
Part of the handing over ceremony was an interactive session by the new DG, Mrs Omobolanle Akinyemi-Obe and the immediate past DG, Dr Emem Omokaro, with trainees at the ongoing NSCC-NBTE Batch Class for Quality Assurance Assessors Training and Certification in Geriatric Social Care holding in Abuja
The House of Representatives Member, representing Surulere 2 in Lagos, Hon Lanre Okunlola and a Member of the House of Representatives Committee on Disabilities, attended the ceremony.
Also the SA to the President, on Agriculture, Hon. Abiodun Yinusa, was in attendance.
