Commercial flight operations have officially commenced at the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, Onueke, in Ebonyi State, with United Nigeria Airlines successfully operating scheduled flights from Lagos and Abuja..
Weekenders magazine visited the airport on Monday, and the terminal was abuzz with activities as air travellers from various parts of Southern Nigeria trooped in to board flights to Lagos.

Taxis and EBOCAB shuttle services are clustered strategically around the premises, ready to transport arriving passengers to locations across the state.
Eyewitnesses and travellers confirmed that the inaugural commercial flight from Lagos landed safely and without incident. Among them was Ebonyi State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon. Richard Idike, who praised the smooth operations and the quality of infrastructure at the facility.
“The commercial flights have finally taken off. We boarded United Nigeria Airlines from Lagos to Onueke without a single hitch. Take-off and landing were incredibly smooth,” Idike said.
He further commended the airport’s infrastructure, stating, *”I’ve travelled through various airports in Nigeria, and I can confidently say Ebonyi airport is one of the best airports in the country.
