The hearing of the contempt proceedings against Engr. Marvellous Omobayo Godwins by the immediate past Deputy Governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shaibu has again been Adjourned to 11th of March, 2025.
The Adjournment followed the appearance of the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Samson Osagie who announced his representation of the 2nd to 6th Defendants/ Respondents who were hitherto been represented by Ken Mozia SAN and others.
The Attorney General told the court that since he assumed office for the past two months, no Legal practitioner has briefed him about his representation of the 2nd to 6th Defendants and there is no record of the case file except the recent hearing notices that were served on hom, hence he decided to appear for the state parties in the has the case, hence in his capacity as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of the state he has a duty to represent the State parties.
It could be recalled that Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja last year declared null and void the alleged impeachment of Comrade Philip Shaibu in his declarative judgement.
Comrade Philip Shaibu, was refused to access his office by the then Governor Godwin Obaseki, the Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu approached the court for contempt against Obaseki imposed deputy governor, Marvellous Omobayo.
Engr Omobayo was then served with Form 48 and later form 49 which represents contempt of court and impersonation as deputy governor of the State.
With this latest development,it is clear that , Omobayo may be heading to Kuje prison unless something else that will bring out the case for settlement.
However, the case has been Adjourned for hearing to 11th March, 2025.
