By Edem Ekpo

Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, representing Cross River North Senatorial District, has declared the state congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, as legitimate and binding.

Speaking after the exercise, Senator Jarigbe dismissed claims of a postponement, insisting that the zonal committee lacked the authority to halt the congress.

“In law, you cannot put something on nothing. This congress is predicated on the decision of the NEC, and I do not think anyone can challenge it because it is legitimate and in line with the decisions of the party,” he said.

Jarigbe expressed satisfaction with the outcome, noting that competent leaders had been chosen to steer the PDP in Cross River as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.

More than 1,000 delegates from the 18 local government areas of the state participated in the congress, which was described as peaceful and well-organized.

The event was monitored by security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Cross River State, Johnson Alalibo.
