The Acting Governor of Ebonyi State, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the contractor handling one of the People’s Charter of Needs housing projects at the Model Secondary Schools, demanding a full progress report on or before 9:00 a.m., October 23, 2025.
Obila gave the directive during an inspection visit to Girls’ High School, Ezillo, in Ishielu Local Government Area, as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence and Ebonyi’s 29th anniversary.

Expressing dissatisfaction over delays in some ongoing government projects, she warned contractors that excuses would no longer be tolerated, stressing that adequate funding had been released before commencement.
“Government has invested here. We need to ask the contractor some questions but he is not here. I give him now and 9 o’clock tomorrow morning to report to my office with his full report. Had it been he was on site, we would have known the duration of this assignment,” she said.
The Acting Governor, who reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to timely project delivery, assured residents that the project would be completed before the end of next month and subsequently commissioned by Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.

“By the grace of God, as soon as my boss comes in, we are going to commission it. We can’t commission it when it is a carcass this way. We must complete this project between now and next month,” she added.
While commending contractors handling projects at Community Primary School Amovu Izhia Ngbo and Nkwegu Primary School for what she described as “a job well done,” Obila urged others to emulate their competence.
Other projects inspected included: Iyionu Ezzegu Road, Ameze/Izzo Housing Estate, Central School Ntezi, and the palaces of HRH Eze Onicha Aloh (Okpoto Autonomous Community, Ishielu LGA) and HRH Eze Ozogbuo Okafor (Nsurakpa Community). In Ohaukwu LGA: the 2km Umuogudu Oshia Ngbo/Nigercem Road, Izhia Girls’ Secondary School, and Ebonyi Pipe Production.
