Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas has congratulated the graduating learners of non -formal sub – sector of the basic education program for their patient and endurance during their training.

The Governor represented by the Commissioner Ministry of Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin, stated this during graduation and certification of None – formal education learners in Taraba State.
He said that the present administration is committed to making Education a priority in the state.
“Education has no age limit irrespective of your status, you can study.
“Revitalization of Adult and Youth Literacy is what we are doing now by demonstrating the payment of monthly stipends to the engaged part time facilitators.
The Governor disclose that the government has resolved to open literacy centers in all Correctional facilities across the state.
“Education is not the business of government alone, especially the Non – formal education sub – sector, I challenge individuals, Philanthropists, NGO’s, faith based Organizations to see the need of assisting the Non – formal education program in the state.
He pointed out that a campaign tagged: “Each one Teach one or Fund the teaching of one” will soon be launch.
“Let everybody take the challenge of making just one illiterate person to be literate, this will drastically reduce the illiteracy rate we believe.
“I am particularly happy because of the disabled that I saw.
The Governor added that skills acquisition will be intergrated into all literacy centers and mainstream the highly performed learners into formal school system.
“Taraba State Mass Education Board and the Ministry of Education are working out modalities to that effect – he said.
Earlier in his remarks, the Acting Executive Secretary of Taraba State Mass Education Board, Hamidu Usman Leme said that the Board has collaborated with the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), train about 24,150 learners under the BESDA program in 2021 and 53,000 learners in 2022.
“The Board seek and was given to open literacy centers in all the Correctional centers in the state by the State Controller General of Correctional centers.
“With the little resources at our disposal, we have started with Seventy two Inmates and plans are on the path to reach out to all Correctional centers in the state.
He disclose that the Board is in partnership with the Value Chain Development Program (VCDP), enroll Twenty Cripples and Then Deaf and dumb.
“The fundermental aim of Adult and None Formal education program is the empowerment of the lives of Adult learners and students through the provision of relevant skills and knowledge which will enable learners or beneficiaries to take appropriate decision about their lives for sustainable social and economic development – he said.
He appreciated the Taraba State Governor Dr Agbu Kefas for declaring Free Education in the state.
He further appreciate the Commissioner Ministry of Education Dr Augustina Godwin, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Idris Gone for piloting the affairs of the ministry.
