The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, has hailed mothers for their indefatigable role and immeasurable contributions to the society. Ekwunife described mothers as God’s most distinctive gift to mankind.
In a statement on Sunday, March 26, in commemoration of the 2023 Mothering Sunday by the Catholic Women Organization (CWO), Senator Ekwunife acknowledged the role of mothers as special, overwhelming and exceptional in the society and the church, and called for mothers to be celebrated for who they are.
“As a member of the CWO, I am indeed overwhelmed to join my fellow mothers to celebrate this special day. Motherhood is one of nature’s priceless gifts, a reflection of the sophisticated nature of womanhood”, Ekwunife stated.
The federal lawmaker urged mothers to deepen their relationship with their children by holding regular discussion and sharing fun times with them. She stated that most social vices can be extinguished through the conscious efforts of mothers, urging mothers to use their inherent abilities in building a sustainable and peaceful society.
Ekwunife congratulated the Catholic Women Organization on their special day and urged them to tap inspiration from the unique role of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who remained steadfast even in her trying times. She encouraged the Catholic mothers to use the celebration to unite in love and extend help to the needy, especially the widows in their different localities.
