The FCT commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu has announced that all the activities of Taskforce meant to ensure sanity and compliance to development guidelines in the territory subsist.
Disu who stated this shortly after FCT Security meeting chaired by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike in Abuja, also emphasized that the ban restricting scavenging activities to the dumpsites still remained and must be obeyed by scavengers.
Disu said the security operations against vandals of manholes and electricity wires have made tremendous success within the last three weeks, adding that
the process for the profiling and documentation of genuine partakers have begun.
On tightening security, the FCT Commissioner of Police explained that security operatives in the territory would collaborate with those in neighbouring States for effective results.
“This clearance operation has been going on and it has been very, very successful. It has been contributing to the peace you have been noticing for the past one or two weeks.
“We finally decided that we are going to involve security operatives and other states bordering the Federal Capital Territory in joint meetings, joint collaboration, and joint operations, so that we can jointly have a outlook on how to police our various states.
“We do not want incidents of a particular state embarking on this clearance operation and the insurgents will be moving towards other areas of the nation”.
The CP also frowned at the activities of some touts parading themselves as revenue collectors in strategic locations to harrass motorists, and urged the citizens to report such activities to the Security agencies.
“On the activities of ‘AMAC Boys’ levying innocent residents of the Federal Capital Territory, yes, we have gotten that report and as I speak with you, we are planning operations and ensuring that this becomes a thing of the past.
“We have our numbers in the public domain. Anybody who is harassed anywhere in town, quickly call those numbers for the police to respond to you”.
