A Non-Governmental Organisation established to sustain the humanitarian legacy of the late Lady Rachel A. Ubani, has been officially unveiled in Umuala Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa, Abia State.
The foundation was launched on Sunday during the second memorial and reception service held at Chief Ubani’s Compound, with family members, clergy, community leaders and well-wishers in attendance.

The foundation which aims to support widows, care for orphans, assist the less privileged and strengthen the local church, was established to honour Lady Rachel’s commitment to humanitarian service.
The event began with a memorial service at St. Gabriel’s Anglican Church, Umuala Nsulu Parish, followed by a procession to the deceased’s graveside, where Rt. Rev. Temple Nwaogu, Bishop of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Diocese of Isiala Ngwa, conducted the consecration.
The bishop offered prayers for peace, unity and blessings upon the Ubani family, while the deceased’s children laid wreaths at her grave in her honour.
The highlight of the reception was the unveiling of the foundation by Dr. Emmanuel Akwuruoha, who also delivered the keynote address and cut the ceremonial ribbon to formally declare the organisation open.

Speaking on the foundation’s vision, Dr. Chinweuba Ubani said the initiative was inspired by his mother’s life of faith, generosity and selfless service to humanity.
He explained that the organisation would demonstrate God’s love through compassionate service, economic empowerment and sustainable support for people in need.
“Our mother taught us that true greatness is measured by how much we give to others, and this foundation is our commitment to keeping her generous spirit alive,” he said.
Other children of the deceased also paid tribute to their mother, recalling her devotion to prayer, unconditional love, resilience and commitment to helping others.
Dr. Chioma Utsalo described her mother as an anchor of prayer who instilled strong Christian values in her children, while Dr. Ugochi Ubani highlighted her mother’s kindness and willingness to provide food, comfort and advice to those in need.
Similarly, Dr. Ogonnaya Ubani-Emeka said her mother’s legacy lived on through the numerous lives she touched, fed and uplifted during her lifetime.
The family expressed hope that the foundation would sustain Lady Rachel’s humanitarian work and extend her positive influence to more people in the community.
