Frank Tietie is Guest Speaker at the NBA Lagos Branch 2025 Intl Human Rights Day Conference

Human rights lawyer and Executive Director of Citizens Advocacy for Social & Economic Rights (CASER), Mr Frank Tietie, has expressed deep appreciation for his invitation as a Guest Speaker at the 2025 International Human Rights Day Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Lagos Branch.

The Conference is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, at Agip Hall, Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos State, commencing at 9:00 a.m., with the theme: “ Corruption and Human Rights: The Hidden Cost of Bad Governance .”

Mr. Tietie described his invitation as a significant honour and recognition of his over 20 years of consistent advocacy in the defence and promotion of human rights and good governance through law and civic engagement.

I am very pleased with this invitation by the NBA Lagos Branch. It further recognises my two decades of dedicated advocacy in the field of human rights as a lawyer and public advocate. Over the years, I have been privileged to work alongside many passionate Nigerians who believe, as I do, that defending the rights and dignity of every person is the cornerstone of a just society, ” said Mr Tietie.

He further acknowledged the invaluable support of the Nigerian media in amplifying his human rights advocacy efforts.

My work as a human rights promoter has been significantly enhanced by the Nigerian media. I remain especially grateful to the Arise News Channel and to a host of other media organizations, including the Africa Independent Television (AIT), Radio Nigeria, to name a few, who have, over the years, graciously granted me the use of their platforms to promote human rights, democracy, and good governance in Nigeria,” he stated.

Mr Tietie also called on members of the Nigerian press to note the date of the event and make a concerted effort to provide the needed press coverage, underscoring that the discussions at the conference will contribute meaningfully to national conversations on corruption, governance, and human rights.

The Nigerian media have always been strong partners in the human rights struggle. I encourage them to lend their presence and coverage to this important event, as we commemorate the 77th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights ,” he added.
