Glisten Intl Academy Sweeps Medals at 2024 VEX Robotics World Championship, Makes Nigeria Proud

Nigeria Won Medals and Sportsmanship Awards at the 2024 VEX Robotics World Championship.

At the just concluded 2024 VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas, Team Nigeria, proudly represented by Glisten International Academy Abuja , Nigeria received the Sportsmanship award and medals in Dallas.

This year’s championship featured a diverse array of participants from more than 90 countries, with over 24,000 students and only 84 qualified teams competing in various categories, of which Nigeria presented three qualified teams from Glisten International Academy.

The Executive Director of the school, Engineer Abba Saidu who led the team, commended the impressive achievement and improvement of the team, in ranking and receiving of medals and Sportsmanship Awards.

He noted that the school ‘s Directors and management are grateful to the esteemed Parents, the Deputy Senate President, his representative, the Minister of Information, NITDA, DG TRC, foundations and private companies, Brekete family, the media, families and friends who believed in the team.

He looks forward to more collaboration and support from relevant stakeholders for future participation in International VEX Robotics competitions in future.

The President of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) Samira Jibir PhD, commended the team for their tenacity, Nigerian spirit of showing resilience and confidence in participating on such wide global stage and with teams from more technologically advanced countries.

She congratulated the team for not only placing Nigeria on the global stage and flying the national flag in such a huge global event, but for also making Nigerians proud for the Sportsmanship Award and medals received.

She reiterated that as the nation continues to make giant strides in the fields of robotics, innovation and technological advancement, this achievement serves as a compelling reminder of the boundless potential and opportunities for our youths

She called for support from Government agencies, private sector, organisations, individuals to rise up to the occasion in supporting and sponsoring this programme so that Nigeria can have larger participation next year. “Preparation for the 2025 competition must start NOW”, she declared.

Finally, she commended all Nigerians for their support and encouragement in making the tournament a reality, 2024 VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas.
