Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has commenced the construction of an 8 km road project, which will link four villages in the state capital.

The villages benefiting from this project are Ebyia Unuphu, Nkaleke, Echara, and the Mgbabor community.

Represented by Lebechi Mbam, the state Commissioner for Works, Tuesday during the project’s inauguration, Governor Nwifuru stated that the road is expected to be completed and commissioned by December 2025.

He explained that the project has been divided into four phases and awarded to four Indigenous contractors to ensure timely completion.

The governor emphasized the road’s significance, noting that its construction would facilitate the transportation of farm products, enhance food sufficiency in the state, and ultimately boost the state’s economy.

“These are rural roads, and we have significant agricultural activities occurring in these villages. By constructing this road, we will improve our agricultural operations, allowing us to produce more agricultural products and reduce food scarcity,” he said.

“This road is very important. Many of our rural roads are receiving attention, and Ebonyi State has effectively become a construction site, with every community benefiting from road development,” he added.

The Commissioner noted that the current administration has made significant infrastructure advancements in less than two years, with 200 km of roads under construction across the state.

Mbam mentioned that more roads would be inaugurated in alignment with the People’s Charter of Needs manifesto of the state government.

He urged the people of Ebonyi State to continue supporting Governor Francis Nwifuru in his commitment to transforming the state, pointing out that those criticizing the governor were doing so out of jealousy.
