People of Iware community of Ardo Kola Local Government, Taraba State has applauded the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN for its sensitization on the cash swapping policy, describing it as the right step in the right direction.
A resident of the area, Abubakar Ardo stated this while speaking with our Correspondent on telephone shortly after the CBN Sensitization program in the area.
“We really appreciate the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN, for coming to our aid.
“It was difficult to open account with any bank, especially at this time of cash swap, but with this, many of us would open accounts.
He promise to carry out the sensitization to his friends, neighbors in the villages.
“I will carry the message to all the villages in my community due to its importance.
Earlier, the Director, Financial System Strategy of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN, Ibrahim Hassan said that the bank is creating awareness to the public on the new currency, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on currency swap exercise to Community of Iware, in Ardo-Kola local government area of Taraba state.
He said that the development was in continuation of the CBN initiative targeted at ensuring that all rural dwellers in Taraba have their old naira notes swapped to new ones or deposited in banks before the extended CBN deadline for currency swap.
Hassan noted that the currency Swap Initiative was to help save communities who do not have access to bank, swap their old naira notes to the new notes.
“Just as we have been doing to ensure that people in the rural Communities of Taraba who do not have access to Bank have their old naira notes swap to new ones.
“CBN delegation have been drafted to Community of Ardo-Kola and local other Local Governments to ensure success of the initiative – he added.
