MHWUN Chairman Usman Daban Reaffirms Commitment to Health Workers’ Welfare at Surprise Birthday Celebration

The State Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Niger State Council, Comrade Usman Abubakar Daban, has pledged continued commitment to the welfare of health workers and the growth of the union.

Comrade Daban made the promise during a surprise birthday celebration organised in his honour at the union’s secretariat in Minna.

He thanked his family, colleagues, and members of the union for the gesture, he described it as overwhelming and a reminder of his duty as both a father and a leader, saying the celebration renewed his resolve to serve diligently and promote unity among health workers across the state.

The union leader reflected on his journey with gratitude, saying his rise from financial secretary to the state chairman was made possible by God’s grace and the unwavering trust of his members.

He acknowledged the sacrifices required in leadership, particularly the impact on family time, and appreciated his loved ones for their understanding and prayers.

In their seperate remarks, the State Chairman of the Radio Television Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria, (RATTAWU), Comrade Isah Mahmood, described Daban as a dedicated and selfless comrade whose leadership continues to inspire others within the labour movement.

The celebrant’s elder sister, Fatima Abubakar Ajia, also expressed her joy over the tributes showered on her brother and prayed for God’s continued protection, guidance, and success in all his endeavours.

Also speaking, the State Secretary of the Medical and Health Workers Union,Comrade Abdullahi Erena, commended the council chairman for transforming the union’s secretariat and fostering progress within the organisation through teamwork and transparency.

Similarly, the Chairperson of the union’s Niger State chapter, Aisha Garba Paiko, praised the celebrant for his inclusive leadership style, particularly his support for women’s active participation in union affairs, urging members to continue praying for his strength and wisdom.
