“NAWOJ CROSS RIVER STATE SUES FOR ENFORCEMENT OF VAPP LAW IN THE STATE.”
As part of the activities marking this year’s 16 days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, (GBV) the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ), Cross River State Chapter has sued for the enforcement of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law, (VAPP) Law in the state.

The theme for this year is UNITE! INVEST TO PREVENT VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS, the Association has also mobilized collective actions to prevent Gender Based Violence, (GBV ) as well as enhance the economic security and safety of women and girls in the state.
NAWOJ CRS also calls on all relevant stakeholders such as the Police, Navy, .Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Health to treat matters of Violence Against Women and Girls with utmost attention and dispatch.
The Association encourages residents of the state to report all Gender Based cases to the newly commissioned One Stop Center for GBV located at the General Hospital , Mary Slessor Road, Calabar as well as the Cross River State Ministry of Women Affairs Office, Hope Waddle Avenue Calabar.
The Association appealed to women and girls to always break the silence and speak out by reporting GBV cases to the safe spaces provided at designated centers within the state.
