The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has congratulated Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her election as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), describing her emergence as a landmark achievement for the legal profession and another major victory for women in leadership.
In a statement signed by its National Chairperson, Hajia Aisha Ibrahim, the association said the election of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria reflects her proven competence, integrity, resilience and unwavering dedication to the advancement of the legal profession. NAWOJ noted that her emergence reinforces the growing confidence in women’s ability to lead key national institutions with excellence and vision.
According to Hajia Ibrahim, the election represents a defining moment for Nigerian women and demonstrates that merit, professionalism and visionary leadership remain the bedrock of effective service.
She expressed confidence that Badejo-Okusanya’s wealth of experience, sound judgment and commitment to justice would strengthen the NBA, deepen the rule of law, promote constitutional democracy and enhance the protection of fundamental human rights across the country.
The NAWOJ National Chairperson further stated that the new NBA President’s success would inspire more women and girls to aspire to leadership positions through hard work, excellence and dedication, while encouraging greater female participation in governance and nation-building.
Reaffirming the association’s commitment to strategic collaboration, Hajia Ibrahim said NAWOJ looks forward to strengthening its partnership with the Nigerian Bar Association in promoting access to justice, defending press freedom, advancing gender equality and supporting initiatives that contribute to national development.
She also congratulated all the newly elected national officers of the NBA, urging them to work collectively in advancing justice, professionalism, equity and the highest ethical standards within the legal profession.
NAWOJ expressed optimism that the new leadership of the Bar Association would champion reforms that strengthen the independence of the legal profession, restore greater public confidence in the justice system and advance the rights and welfare of women, children and other vulnerable groups.
The association wished Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, a successful, impactful and transformative tenure as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association.
