On behalf of the National Chairperson, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, the Central Working Committee (CWC), the National Executive Council (NEC) and the entire members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) nationwide, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Hajiya Zainab Rabiu Salisu, the management and staff of Express Radio Kano, and the entire journalism family in Kano State and Nigeria at large, over the painful loss of our dear colleague, sister and friend.

We received the news of the passing of Hajiya Zainab Rabiu Salisu with deep shock and profound sadness. Her death is not just a loss to her immediate family, but a great loss to Express Radio Kano, to NAWOJ, to the journalism profession, and to all who knew her and benefited from her warmth, professionalism, dedication and kindness.
Hajiya Zainab was a committed, passionate journalist and a true ambassador of women in the media. Throughout her career at Express Radio Kano, she distinguished herself as a voice of truth, a promoter of development, a champion of women’s issues, and a mentor to many young journalists coming up in the profession. Her programs educated, informed, and inspired her listeners. Her humility, diligence, and her ever-smiling face endeared her to colleagues, friends, and her audience.
She was a woman of faith, of integrity, and of service. She used her microphone not just to inform but to uplift, to unite, and to give hope to the voiceless. Her contributions to the growth of Express Radio Kano and to the journalism community in Kano State will remain indelible and will be remembered for years to come.
In this moment of grief, we pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives her shortcomings, accepts her good deeds, grants her Jannatul Firdaus, and gives her family, her colleagues at Express Radio Kano, and all of us the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
NAWOJ stands with the family at this difficult time. We share in your pain, and we will continue to remember Hajiya Zainab Rabiu Salisu in our prayers and in our hearts.
Adieu, our dear colleague. You will be greatly missed, but your voice, your works, and your memories will live on.
May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amin ya Allah
