Ahead of the Delegates Conference of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, some members have passed a vote of confidence on the present leadership of the Association led by Comrade Ladi Bala.

They made the call at a three day workshop in Abuja. According to them, Comrade Ladi Bala’s achievements in repositioning NAWOJ is highly commendable.

On her part, the National President of NAWOJ, Comrade Ladi Bala, declared that the last three years had been very fruitful, noting that since the 34 years existence of NAWOJ, her administration was able to secure an office space with staff and office, which gave the organization a facelift adding that it also secured a land and working tirelessly towards developing it into a permanent and more befitting Secretariat for the Association.

“This is the very first time we have a sitting President operating from an office, with all the National Officers having their offices in the Secretariat which is a remarkable achievement”.

“We just concluded a three day robust strategic plan workshop, sponsored by ActionAid Nigeria and Global Affairs Canada aimed at drawing up strategic activities and programmes for NAWOJ for a period of five years.

The NAWOJ President solicited the support of members to enable her consolidate on the gains she and her team have gathered so far.

The National Consultant of NUJ, a veteran journalist, and former Director general of Ladi Bala first tenure campaign, Mr Amos Dunia, who expressed satisfaction with Comrade Ladi Bala’s efforts, pledged his continuous support to ensure that she gets a second term to acquire more laudable achievements.

“All members should rally around her for more achievements, ” Mr Amos urged.
The Secretary of NAWOJ, Comrade Helen Udofa and the Treasurer, Comrade Fatima Abdulrasheed, who are also seeking a second tenure, said: “Today we can boast of a gender policy and a Secretariat so we have an identity now. Our President wants us to do things in the digital way and move from analogue and make NAWOJ a functional NGO other than being a professional body so we are seeking reelection to consolidate on that,” they noted.
