Barr. Faithvin Nwanchor, the Head of the Sexual Assault and Gender-Based Violence Response Department of the Ministry of Justice, and coordinator gender based violence taskforce in Ebonyi State, has commended Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for positioning the State as an emerging investment hub through his people-oriented policies and landmark projects.

Barr. Nwanchor said that the Governor’s strides in infrastructural development, public-private partnerships, the ease of doing business, and the hosting of both national and international events have continued to boost investors’ confidence in Ebonyi.

Speaking after the just-concluded 3rd Retreat of the Committee on the Review of Nigeria’s Laws in Abakaliki, where she served as one of the organizers, she praised Governor Nwifuru and the State’s Attorney General for creating an enabling environment that ensured the event’s success.

“The State Government not only provided the financial support but also created the enabling environment for hosting visitors from across Nigeria, including the Attorney General of the Federation and members of the presidential committee. The hospitality, accommodation, and facilities made Ebonyi stand out,” she said.

She revealed that the retreat, which focused on reviewing Nigeria’s extant laws and addressing emerging legal challenges, attracted wide public participation, including students, lawyers, and members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). According to her, this further reinforced Ebonyi’s growing image as a centre for legal and intellectual engagements.

Highlighting the impression made on guests, Nwanchor said: “At the gala night, many participants were amazed by the beauty of the Ecumenical Centre and the level of infrastructural transformation in Ebonyi. They kept saying, ‘We never knew Ebonyi was this beautiful.’ This shows that the Governor’s efforts are changing perceptions about our State.”

She also pointed to the State’s ongoing partnership with LexisNexis on codification of laws as a milestone that reflects Ebonyi’s openness to global collaborations and investments.

Barr. Nwanchor expressed optimism that, at the pace of development, Ebonyi could soon host major national legal gatherings, including future NBA conferences.

“With Governor Nwifuru’s vision, Ebonyi is no longer seen as remote. The State is opening up for both local and international investors. What we showcased during this retreat proves that Ebonyi has the capacity to thrive as an investment hub for the South East and beyond,” she concluded.
