Ogun State Labour Party Gears Up For LGA Elections

The Ogun State Labour Party has intensified preparations for the upcoming Local Government elections scheduled for November 16.

In a significant boost to its electoral chances, the party has successfully conducted rancour-free primary elections across several local governments. This feat demonstrates the party’s commitment to internal democracy and sets the stage for a united campaign.

According to Hon Shola Akeeb, the state Chairman of OBIdient Movement while speaking to our correspondent, some key activities aligned for the elections include but not limited to citizen sensitization and awareness events, capacity-building programs for candidates, and registration of polling agents and canvassers.

The Leader of the party and the Governorship Candidate in the last election, Dr Kehinde Sogunle said “We are determined to give the people of Ogun State a viable alternative”. He added; “The candidates are prepared to address the harsh economic realities facing the communities, and we are confident that our messages will resonate with voters”.

In contrast, the ruling party is struggling to finalize its primaries due to internal conflicts. The repeated postponement of the electoral timetable by the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission has further compounded the delays.

No doubt, the Labour Party’s strategic preparations and united front will give them an edge in the elections if properly executed as highlighted.

The people of Ogun State are eager for change. If the Labour Party can maintain its momentum, they may be able to capitalize on the ruling party’s internal divisions and the situation of the state.

As the election date draws near, all eyes are on Ogun State. Will the Labour Party’s preparations pay off, or will the ruling party regain its footing? Only time will tell.
