Polio Vaccination: Dr. Labaran Commends Fagge LGA, Laments Kwarin Gogau’s Threat to Health

The Fagge LGA in Kano State has been lauded for its excellent preparation towards the successful conduct of the ongoing polio vaccination campaign in the state.

The commendation came from the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, yesterday while supervising the exercise in some parts of the LGA.

Dr. Labaran stated that he was exceptionally happy to see teams of supervisors, vaccinators and other workers doing their job diligently in all the places he and his team visited.

He commended parents in the locality for bringing out their children to be vaccinated against the dreaded disease worthy of emulation by people of other LGAs, maintaining that this would go a long way in curtailing spread of the disease if such concerted effort is adopted across the state.

The Commissioner also eulogized the local government officials, representative of the district head and other stakeholders for their presence during the flag-off of the exercise that has really added colour to the campaign.

He also appreciated them for taking part in the supervision with a view to making sure the campaign achieves its objectives in the LGA, urging them to maintain the tempo till the end of the exercise in order to have all the eligible children vaccinated.

“This is important because Fagge LGA has been one of the LGAs with some issues as eight out of the 20 viruses found circulating were from the LGA. That was why Fagge LGA must be given a special attention. Therefore, I urge the people of Fagge to give all the needed cooperation in order to have the exercise successful”, said Dr. Labaran.

The Commissioner, however, lamented the threat the Kwarin Gogau culvert poses to the health of the people of the area, noting with dismay that it was a place is littered with plenty of filth so much that stool from the nearby home coming directly to the culvert which is a serious threat to the health of the surrounding people.

He assured that after the exercise they would sit with the traditional rulers, residents around Kwarin Gogau and other stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the menace once and for all.
