Sallah Celebration: Tarabans Urged to Pray for Outgoing and Incoming Administrations

Taraba State Deputy Governor, Engr. Haruna Manu has appealed to the people to continue to pray for both the outgoing and incoming administrations at the federal and state levels.

He made the plea while fielding questions from Journalists shortly after observing the two raka’at of the Eid-el Fitr prayer held at the Taraba State University Juma’at Masjid in Jalingo.

The two raka’at that were performed by the Muslim Ummah during the Eid-el Fitr prayer was led by the Deputy Chief Imam of the Taraba State University Juma’at Masjid, Dr. Musa Abubakar Jibo.

Speaking to Journalists shortly after listening to the sermon by the Imam, the Deputy Governor who is also a Senator-elect from Taraba Central, Engr. Haruna Manu noted that their present government is a transiting one beginning from the federal and the state, hence the need for more prayers for success.

Engr. Haruna Manu also appealed to the Muslim Ummah to imbibe the principles of the Holy month of Ramadan which have just ended.

According to him, it is only when the Muslims continue with the teachings of Ramadan by being their brother keepers, giving to one another, as well as doing the right thing that peace and harmony shall reign.

The Taraba Central Senator-elect, Engr. Haruna Manu, however, called on Tarabans to also pray, support, and cooperate with the incoming administration of Lt. Col. Kefas Agbu (rtd) for the development of the state.

He revealed that the present government of Governor Darius Ishaku had from 2015 their first tenure to 2023 the second tenure is about to elapse done a lot in transforming the state including the provision of security despite some hitches.

Earlier in his sermon, the Deputy Chief Imam of the Taraba State University Juma’at Masjid, Dr. Musa Abubakar charged the Muslim Ummah not to throw away the teachings of Ramadan but should redoubtable efforts to continue with such lessons, saying that Allah is always accepting and rewarding good deeds.

Some Muslim worshipers who spoke to our Correspondent Alhaji Auwal Abubakar Chul of the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the Taraba State University Jalingo, and the Senator representing Mechanical Engineering Students in the Taraba State University Jalingo, Sen. Musa Kabiru expressed appreciation to God Almighty for keeping them alive and witnessed another important festive period for the Muslim faithful.

Chul and Kabiru who is also the reigning King (Gamji) of the Taraba State University, however, called on the people of the state to embrace one another and live in harmony as well as pray for the leaders for God’s guidance.

Meanwhile, reports from the sixteen LGAs of the state indicated that the Eid-el Fitr prayer was observed peacefully.

“As we celebrate Sallah, I urge you to reflect on those virtues, that will make Nigeria a better country for all and the future generation.”

Similarly, the Speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Kizito Bonzena, has fecilitated with Muslim Ummah in the State as they join their counterparts worldwide to celebrate this year’s Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Speaker also enjoins the Muslim Ummah in the State to use the Eid al-Fitr occasion which is the festival of charity, compassion, self-introspection, reflection, and collective worship to pray fervently for peaceful coexistence and peaceful transition of power both in the State and the nation.
