Sportsmanship and Excellence on Display at GSS Kuje’s 32nd Inter House Sports

Government Secondary School, Kuje, hosted its 32nd Inter-House Sports Competition, the vibrant event showcase athletic prowess, teamwork, and unity among students.

The Chairman of the event, Abdulkarim Abdulrahman, a former President of ANCOPSS FCT, highlighted the importance of sporting activities in developing students’ skills, promoting physical fitness, and fostering bonds among participants. He commended the school’s management for sustaining the tradition of hosting the event annually, even amidst the current economic challenges, and encouraged students to exhibit their best talents while embracing the spirit of sportsmanship.

In his address, the School Principal and ANCOPSS FCT President, Malam Bello Adam Gupa, emphasized the integral role of sports in education. He noted that sports instill qualities such as resilience, discipline, teamwork, and leadership, which are essential for success in life.
He also acknowledged the unwavering support of the FCT Education Management in enabling the school to combine academics and sports effectively.

Representative from the FCT Secondary Education Board, Ag. Director, School Services, Hajia Ladidi Alhassan and Director, School Services,Ubeb, Hajia Ramatu kamal commended the school for its efforts in keeping students physically and mentally alert through sports.


They acknowledged the competition’s role in fostering a well-rounded education.

The highlight of the colourful event was the presentation of trophies and medals to outstanding athletes and teams where Kuje House emerged as the overall champion with 13 points, while Abaji House and Rubochi House took second and third places with 11 and 10 points respectively. Rubochi House also secured the first position in the match pass competition.

The 4×100 relay event saw stellar performances from invited schools, with Junior Secondary School,Shibiri taking first place in the Girls’ category and Government Secondary School, Gosa, clinching the Boys’ title.

Government Secondary School, Gwagwalada also emerged second position in both Girls and Boys categories.

The 32nd Inter-House Sports Competition at GSS Kuje which was well attended by dignitaries from all walks of life exemplified the school’s commitment to fostering sportsmanship, unity, and excellence among its students, leaving a lasting impression on attendees and participants alike.
