The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter of the Standup for Women Society (SWS) has intensified preparations for the 2026 SWS International Conference scheduled to take place in Abuja, with members emphasizing collaboration and strategic planning to ensure a successful event.

The commitment was reiterated during a meeting of the chapter held on March 14, 2026, in Abuja, where members reviewed progress made by various committees assigned to coordinate different aspects of the international conference.

Chairperson of the FCT Chapter, Lib. Mina Daniels, while addressing members, commended those who attended the meeting and reaffirmed the chapter’s determination to host a conference that would reflect the vision and values of the organisation. She noted that the conference presents an opportunity for the chapter to demonstrate leadership and strengthen the impact of the society.

Updates presented during the meeting indicated that several committees have commenced groundwork for the event, including programme coordination, fundraising, media promotion, accommodation, transport logistics, and conference registration.

Members also discussed strategies for mobilizing support from corporate organisations, development partners, and stakeholders to ensure adequate resources for the conference, while committees were encouraged to maintain close coordination to deliver effectively on their assignments.

As part of the conference activities, the association also plans to undertake a corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at supporting women with disabilities through the provision of mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walking supports.

The meeting further emphasized the need for members to encourage wider participation in the conference, noting that the event is expected to attract delegates from across Nigeria and other countries.

The SWS International Conference 2026 is expected to bring together women leaders, advocates, and stakeholders to discuss issues affecting women’s development and empowerment while strengthening collaboration for gender equality and social progress.

This was contained in a statement jointly signed by Lib Mina Daniels, Chairperson and Lib Chioma James, the PRO.
