Taraba State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has urge it’s members to ensure that they are up to date in the payment of their professional fees.

The State Chairman of the Union, Comrade David Nya stated this during the Congress of the Union held at the Press Center in Jalingo.
“Some are only mere members because they are not current in the payment of their professional fees.
“You can only be a member when you are up to date in the payment of your professional fee.
He use the forum to congratulate Governor Kefas Agbu for his victory at the polls and appreciate God and members for giving him and his Exco the opportunity to serve.
He further appreciated Governor Kefas Agbu for supporting the Union which enable it participate in meetings outside the state.
“I want also to appreciate the Governor for appointing some of our members into key positions, J J Williams as Chief of Staff and Yusuf Sanda as Chief Press Secretary.
He commend Journalists in the the state for their reportage and relationship with the state government.
On the coming state Congress, the State Chairman call on members to elect leaders that have the Union and interest of members at heart.
“Be watchful of the members you elect as your leaders, some of the members are only seen during elections, but after that you will not see them again. So I urge you to elect leaders that are willing to serve.
He pointed out that the current Exco was able to renovate Officers and meeting Hall at the Press Center. He further said that the Exco was able to send members to attend Seminars, Workshops, Trainings, Conferences amongst others.
He also use the forum to urge members to continue to be unit and remain to be one.
Reading the Sectariat report, the state Secretary of the Union, Comrade Luke Galunje said that the council was able to quash controversies around the Yola Electric Distribution Company YEDC outstanding bills having had an interface with management of the company.
He said that members were sent to attend Seminars Workshops Trainings with different CSO’s NGO’s and partners at different times to include, 5 trained in Nassarawa State, 12 in Jalingo, 5 in Gombe State, 2 in Abuja, 3 in Yola, 10 in Maiduguri and beside visits from both private and public bodies such as EU and NHIA.
