In his efforts in in ensuring peace and unity amongst members of the United Methodist Church UMC, the Director Connectional Ministries, Rev Dr. Philip Micah Dopah has visited Districts under the Church.
The 2023 visit kicked started at Kona District, held at UMC Nukkai, Kona District headquarters.
The District Conference had all delegates from eight charges and one Zone of Kona District in attendance mark the first point of visit this year.
Addressing the delegates, the Director Connectional Ministries, commended Kona District for been supportive to Conference at all times and discribing Kona District as one of the best among the 40 districts in the conference and advice theme maintain the tempo.
He challenge them to strive for unity at all cost, and preach peace wherever they are, in other to have a healthy Church.
In his welcome address, the District Superintendent of Kona, Rev. James Vocks appreciated the Director Connectional Ministries for the visit.
According to him, Kona District is committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world and announced that the district has opened two new churches.
Rev. Vock call on members of Kona District who are weak especially in compliance to sustainability and development to wake up and contribute to preserve the future of the Church.
He call on farmers to avoid selling their farm produce during harvest to save themselves from hunger.
Also speaking, the District Lay Leader Elder Joseph Umar Bibinu, affirmed the Distric Superintendent report and call for peace and unity of purpose among members and Pastors to promote God’s Kingdom.
Earlier in a sermon, Rev. Hannatu Robinson stress the need for church leaders to be prepared for challenges and persecution at anytime.
She admonish leaders to properly check themselves whether they’re still active or facing retirement in the service and advice them to always look up to Jesus for directions and guidance to enable them succeed in their God’s given assignment.
The Director Connectional Ministries was accompanied to Kona District by the Conference Chaplain Rev. Abbo Zinas Wakili , Ag. Conference Lay Leader Mr. Joseph Kwalla and Conference Treasurer Mr. Silas Kessavo.
Similarly, members of Southern Conference has been charge to strive for Unity and peaceful, harmornours coexistence.
The Director Connectional Ministries, Southern Conference of United Methodist Church Rev. Dr. Philip Micah Dopah stated this while addressing delegates during the District Conference of Pugong District at UMC Gada Lasheke, Yorro Local area of Taraba State.
He decried the rising spade of hatred among members especially politicians which have negatively affect the growth and development of the Church and the society.
Rev. Dopah urge the delegates to crave for Holiness, according to him living a Holy life isn’t a choice rather but necessary for all believers, reminding them to be like Christ.
Earlier the District Superintendent of Pugong welcome the leader and his entourage to the District and prayed for a successful District Conference.
During the conference 7 members of the district were honoured for completing payment of the Sustainability and development for six years.
Songs ministration featured prominently from the various singing groups.
The leader was accompanied by the Conference Chaplain, Rev. Abbo Zinas Wakili , Conference Lay leader Mr. Joseph Z. Kwalla, Conference Treasurer Mr. Silas Kessavo and Rev. David Cletus Khuturu, Chairman Pastors pension welfare Committee.
In another development, the Southern Conference of United Methodist Church has review it salary scale to pay N30k minimum wage to its Pastor.
The leader of the Church Rev. Dr. Philip Micah Dopah disclose this at United Methodist Church ATC Kufai headquarters of Dabale Memorial District during their 6th session of the District Conference
The leader said that the personnel committee will swim into action as soon as the State government paid the N30, 000 minimum wage, according to him this is necessary because Pastors in the conference share the same market and other facilities with state government staff hence the need to implement same.
