UN Declares Monday 30th March 2026 as Zero Tolerance to Waste Day

To commemorate this, Public Relations students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, led by their lecturer, Dr. Godswill Okiyi, organised a Green Walk within and outside of the University with the goal of creating awareness about the environment, and the need to keep it clean.

During the initiative efforts were made to pick wastes and also sensitise members of the community of the importance of cleanliness of their surroundings.

Participants during the walk, tagged Greenwalk wore green as a symbol of the environment, and a call to keep it clean.

Dr. Okiyi, the initiator of the initiative called on all, including governments and corporate bodies to put in more efforts to maintain a clean environment as it’s healthier for everyone in the long run.

He also noted that a cleaner environment will help reduce impact of climate change and greenhouse effects. He thanked the students for their willingness to participate in Green Walk and for their support for the initiative.
