SWAN Secretary-General Aspirant, Ikena Okonkwo has promise to work in line with Article 11 of the Association statutes if given the mandate.
In a statement made available to our reporter, he listed the five point agenda to include, Represent the Honourably and develop strong relations among NEC members, States, relevant Stakeholders and Existing/Would Partners, Protect/Project the interest and activities of the Association in the most strategic and professional manner, Explore possible and most implementation-driven pathways together with NEC, for training and re-training of members in collaboration with the zonal and state organs, Judiciously harmonise reports, record and decisions of NEC/Full Council and pursue implementations as at when due and Ensure vibrant and responsive Secretariat together with NEC.

“I will ensure vibrant and responsive sectariat together with NEC.
“I will explore possible and most implementation driven pathways together with NEC, for training and re-training of members in collaboration with the Zonal and State organs.
The statement listed out SWAN positions held by the aspirant to include, Full Council Member 2018 – 2023, Secretary [FCT] 2018 – 2023, SWANECO Member [National] 2019, and Financial Secretary [FCT] 2015 – 2018.
He made a special appeal to delegates to the Triennial Delegates Conference scheduled for Portharcourt from the 12th of July 2023 not to allow themselves to be deceived by some individuals who perhaps feel if it is not them it cannot be any other person.
“I appeal to all of us to beware of such persons as they don’t mean well for the association apparently for their selfish reasons.
He appealed to members of the association to remain committed to the association, adding that “ whatever interest one represents, SWAN submerges anybody, soldier go soldier come, as we progress, note that posterity is there for us, I appeal to our conscience, that we should always remember that, we will be judged accordingly herein and the hereafter – he said.
