The Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT, has demanded for the implementation of Teachers Salary Structure TSS.
The state Chairman of the Union, Comrade Nathan Solomon disclose this during this year’s World Teachers Day celebration in Jalingo.

He describe Teachers as vital contributors to the education and development of feature leaders.
“Teachers lay the foundation of a civilized and progressive society. Their dedicated work and pain they encounter to ensure that students turn out to be enlightened citizens deserve high recognition.
He appreciated Governor Kefas Agbu for the free education policy in the state.
According to him, the Day was set aside by UNESCO and Education International to revere Teachers is undeniably inspiring.
“The Teachers stand in the position of providing quality basic information needed for survival through background history, obedience abiding law and order.
“In Taraba State for instance, the contribution of His Excellency Dr. Kefas Agbu will not go unacknowledged and are numerous to mention to mention.
“However, the free education policy which impact on all living in Taraba State, the rewiew of years of service and age for retirement and its implementation for Teachers and as trade union, the singular gesture of recognizing the elected officials of the Union at the recent NUT state delegates conference – he said.
He pointed out some basic needs to serve as reference and working tool to government to include, settlement of Five months outstanding arrears with update on promotion and annual increment and above all the consideration to put in place special Teachers Salary Structure TSS.
“Teachers change the scenario of life through quality mentoring.
“The role of the Teacher in the Society surpasses the normal thinking that a teacher only educate the students, in the actual sense, the role of a teacher goes beyond the teacher continues where parents stops and in some cases do all the work for parents.
He also urged the governor to ensure the implementation of Teachers’ promotion, saying that it would aid in achieving his free and compulsory education agenda in the state.
“World Teachers Day is a memorable day for teachers, and also a day to honor and remember our fallen heroes who contributed to the development of education.
He also commended the governor for his support that enabled the union to celebrate the day in the state.
The Chairman thanked Dr. Agbu Kefas for the good initiative and his promise of free and compulsory education, thereby calling on him to look into the teacher’s welfare.
Also speaking, the Acting Chairperson of the Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB), Mrs. Rabi Sunday promised to forward their plea to the governor regarding their 5 months arrears.
She expressed optimism that the governor will look into their demands, and called on them to be more dedicated, as well as committed to their duties.
However, in an interview, some of the teachers appreciated the Governor for his commitment to reviving the education sector and their welfare.
They all pledged their resolve to put in their best to ensure the success of the vision of his administration of providing quality education to the younger generation.
