The Ebonyi State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reaffirmed its readiness to participate fully in the 2027 general elections, following the growing number of aspirants declaring interest in various elective positions.

The State Chairman of the party, Dr. Mrs Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor, made this known on Monday while addressing journalists after a State Working Committee (SWC) meeting held at the party’s secretariat along the old Enugu-Abakaliki road.

Adibe-Nwafor stated that the meeting formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the party’s structure and prepare adequately for the forthcoming elections, emphasizing that ADC would feature prominently on the ballot.

She noted that the gathering brought together key stakeholders, including LGA and ward chairmen, as well as aspirants, describing the turnout as impressive and reflective of the party’s growing acceptance.

According to her, “African Democratic Congress (ADC) is a political party and not a support group. We are not pseudo to any political party. We are a recognized political party that will be on the ballot paper, and we are determined to field candidates across board, particularly in Ebonyi State.”

She further stressed that the party is set to present candidates for all elective positions, including governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, and State Assembly seats, adding that aspirants are fully prepared to contest under the ADC platform.

On internal party matters, Adibe-Nwafor disclosed that the SWC also reviewed a recent judgement of the federal high court, which nullified previously conducted party congresses.

She explained that, in compliance with the court ruling, the party would reconduct its congresses across all states, including Ebonyi, to ensure legitimacy in the emergence of party candidates.

“The SWC carefully examined the Federal High Court judgement delivered on April 29, which quashed all earlier congresses. In line with that ruling, all state chapters have been directed to conduct fresh congresses, and Ebonyi State will not be left out,” she said.

She added that the national leadership of the party had been duly informed and has already scheduled a special convention for May 27, 2026, where key national officers, including distinguished Senator David Mark, are expected to be re-elected and ratified.

Reaffirming the party’s commitment to due process, Adibe-Nwafor emphasized that ADC remains law-abiding and fully aligned with judicial directives.

She, however, called on party members to remain united and cooperative ahead of the fresh congresses, stressing that internal harmony would be crucial to the party’s success in the 2027 elections.
