The Ebonyi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unanimously passed a vote of confidence on its State Chairman, Dr. Mrs. Jennifer Adibe Nwafor, citing her credibility and inclusive leadership style.
The motion was moved during a State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held at the party’s secretariat along the old Abakaliki-Enugu Expressway. The Chairman of the party in Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Engr. Epherim Eze, who initiated the motion, commended Nwafor for her fairness and ability to unite members across different political backgrounds within the coalition.

Eze noted that since the formation of the coalition, the chairman has ensured equal treatment of all members, regardless of whether they previously belonged to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), or ADC.
He explained that the SEC meeting had in attendance about 30 state executive members, alongside local government party chairmen and some of their secretaries. He added that the endorsement of Nwafor also aligns with the party’s zoning arrangement, which suggests that if the governorship goes to the North and the deputy governorship to the South, the Central zone should produce the party’s state chairman.
Eze subsequently called for a vote of confidence on Nwafor and urged members to support her re-election.
The motion was seconded by the State Youth Leader, Comrade Nwankwo Ikechukwu, who stressed the need to respect the zoning formula and sustain unity within the party.
The motion was put to a vote and was unanimously adopted by SEC members and chairmen from all 13 local government areas, including some of their secretaries.
In her response, Dr. Mrs. Jennifer Adibe Nwafor expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in her leadership and pledged to continue working with stakeholders to ensure the party’s victory in the 2027 elections.
