Afikpo LG Boss, Nwachi, Timothy A. U Celebrates Children’s Day With a Call For United Action Against Bullying

The Government Secondary School Field, Afikpo, was abuzz with excitement on Tuesday as the Executive Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area, Hon Nwachi Timothy A. U., hosted the 2025 Children’s Day celebration. The event brought together all stakeholders and children from across the Local Government Area, who showcased their talents, creativity, and potential.

A United Stand Against Bullying:
The theme of this year’s celebration, “Stand Up, Speak Up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation,” resonated deeply with the audience. Chairman Nwachi emphasized the need for collective efforts to protect the rights and well-being of children, in line with the United Nations Resolutions and the Child Rights Law. He praised the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Builder Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, and his wife, Chief Mrs. Mary-Maudaline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, for their commitment to promoting the rights of Ebonyi children.

Commitment to Children’s Welfare:
The Council Chairman assured that Afikpo Local Government Area, under his leadership, would take proactive measures to deepen children’s access to quality education, healthcare, and overall well-being. This commitment was further echoed by the Chairman of the Occasion, Chief Ewa Otu Eleri, who commended the Council Chairman for his efforts in tackling the phenomenon of out-of-school children and advocated for an end to bullying in schools and elsewhere.

The Speaker of Afikpo Local Government Children’s Parliament, Rt. Hon. Precious Onyinyechi Ibiam, thanked President Tinubu, Nigeria, and Governor Nwifuru for their dedication to the well-being of Nigerian children and solicited further action from stakeholders to protect their socio-economic rights.

The event featured a scintillating march past, thrilling cultural dances from Nkwa Umuagbogho and the school children, and the announcement of results and award of prizes in various categories.
