The Executive Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area on Friday warmly hosted his friends, associates and stakeholders at his residence, as the good people of Unwana joyously marked their New Yam Festival.
The gathering was graced by notable personalities, including royal fathers, political Office Holders (Past & Present) Nde- Ichina Unwara, Uke-Ogo, Uke-Eto, Onikara Ehugbo, Essa Ehugbo, Inyom Unwara, security agents. Journalists and Business magnates among others.
Addressing the people, the Council Chairman emphasized the importance of unity, peace, and harmony, encouraging the people of the Area to leverage on the New Yam Festival to foster togetherness and promote unity among themselves.
NWACHI further elaborated on the essence of the New Yam Festival, noting that it celebrates God’s faithfulness for bounty harvest, Provides an opportunity for cultural exchange and preservation of traditional values and encourages social bonding, harmony and community cohesion
The Council Chairman who announced plans to harmonize the festival into a grand cultural carnival after each Community have marked theirs, distributed wrappers, yams and cash to numerous individuals who can not afford to eat new yam in their homes,in the spirit of New yam festival
